Under the dim glow of a packed Lugogo arena, the rhythmic chant of boxing fans reverberated across the room. Gloves snapped against fists as youthful contenders stepped into the ring, each one carrying not just dreams but the hopes of entire communities. This was no ordinary evening in the boxing calendar—this was Week 15 of the Uganda Champions League Boxing Championship, where grit and determination meet glory.
The highlight of the night came early, as Nakato Winnie of Busega BC faced Fuambe Shamim from Arua BC in a fierce duel for the Youth 63kg category. Nakato’s precision and resilience shone through, earning her a 4:1 split decision victory. Later, Masembe Julius of Lukanga BC left the crowd roaring as he delivered a commanding third-round stoppage against Ebina Benard in the Youth 60kg category, cementing his reputation as one of the tournament’s rising stars.
In the junior ranks, Kalyango Abubaker stood tall for Lukanga BC, claiming a unanimous decision over Zebra BC’s Kasozi Tonny in the Junior 70kg division. The Elite category brought its own fireworks, with Rackara Paul of KCCA BC landing devastating combinations that forced a second-round stoppage against Kazungu Frank of Brawn BC. The evening’s surprises included Kemis Ibrahim of Mutajjazi BC, whose flawless technique and speed earned him a unanimous victory against Kaddu Julius.
